THE heat is intensifying for Footscray Edgewater coach Michael O'Sullivan and his players after just two rounds of Kookaburra Victorian Premier Cricket season.
They are licking their wounds after being outplayed by Prahran in a one-dayer at Merv Hughes Oval on Saturday.
The visitors hit up 3-196 in 48.2 overs to haul in the Bulldogs' 6-194.
It followed Footscray Edgewater's embarrassing loss to Melbourne in a one-dayer at the Albert Ground in the first round the previous Saturday.
The Bulldogs were routed for 97 in 46.5 overs with the Demons belting 1-99 from 23 overs in reply.
But the coach will be reminding his players that they have a wonderful opportunity to bounce back with a vengeance this weekend.
Footscray Edgewater does battle with Essendon in a one-dayer at Windy Hill on Saturday and hosts Richmond in a one-dayer at Merv Hughes Oval on Sunday.
Captain Nathan Geisler holds the key at No.4.
The Deer Park resident is one of the most powerful hitters in the competition.
O'Sullivan insists Geisler, a Melton Cricket Club product, has the shots to break the legendary Ken Eastwood's longstanding club record of 850 runs in a season, set in 1966-67.
Geisler made 98 in his last innings at Windy Hill.
He will be determined to lead from the front.
Explosive all-rounder Grant Lindsay will be desperate to fire with bat and ball after a quiet start to the summer.
