A MEETING to generate ideas on how to improve safety at and around Sunshine railway station failed to generate interest among Labor MPs.
The meeting was organised by Brimbank Council and held on May 25.
The acting general manager for city development, Leigh Harrison, said Keilor MP George Seitz, Kororoit MP Marlene Kairouz, Derrimut MP Telmo Languiller, Footscray MP Marsha Thomson and Western Metropolitan MPs Bernie Finn and Colleen Hartland were invited. Only the latter two showed up.
No representatives from the absent MPs' offices attended either.
Mr Finn said it was a "bloody disgrace".
"It is an example of the Labor Party treating Brimbank residents with disdain. They continue to show every day they are not fit to represent this area.
"Surely they have an obligation to attend these meetings and have some sort of input into the safety of those who pay their wages."
Mr Harrison said the meeting was a one-off to bring stakeholders together to outline current projects and discuss what was being done to improve safety, and what could be done. Presentations were given by representatives of Victoria Police, the Department of Transport, Connex and the council.
"The meeting was very constructive," Mr Harrison said.
Also present were Brimbank's three Harvester Ward councillors, along with various members of staff.
The Advocate contacted the absent MPs but received no responses before deadline.
